Application of current heats the end of the tip with Joule heat.
This is a spot welder which can first weld a thermoplastic boss and then shoot compressed air from the end of the tip to cool and to fix in place the plastic.
The welder can weld many points at the same time. Even 100 points can be simultaneously welded in the same operating time as one. (Time may vary with the size of the welding tip.)■Standard round welding tip

Weldable materials
Ordinary thermoplastics can be welded, without replacement to any special tips, but special tips are needed for materials with glass filler and certain plastic types and welding point shapes. Some types of plastic may be difficult to weld. Please consult this in advance.
